I tried new prompts this month where students have two pick their choice between two things, like "do you like tacos or pizza?" It's a fun way for students to practice writing in a different way and a great way for you to learn more about your kids. Students have to use the words on the board to help them answer the question. Invented spelling is always encouraged and celebrated, but I want my students to also understand how to use resources to help them spell correctly. The first part is answering the question "I like pizza more than tacos" and then why. They are doing phenomenal work. At the end, they get to share with a partner.
